Australia has again rejected New Zealand's offer to resettle 150 refugees from Manus island and Nauru. New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern renewed the offer when she met Malcolm Turnbull in Sydney. But Mr Turnbull says he would focus on the resettlement plan with the US, before considering any deal with New Zealand.

Assistant immigration minister Alex Hawke is the latest MP to be caught up in the ongoing citizenship saga. Mr Hawke has been forced to deny he's a dual citizen after it was revealed his mother was born in Greece. In a statement, the Liberal MP says he was born in Australia and "has only ever solely held Australian citizenship."

Donald Trump says he will use his visit to Japan to build a stronger alliance against North Korean aggression. The US president landed at Yokota air force base in western Tokyo to address defence personnel then met Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe nearby for a round of golf.

And injured forward Tim Cahill will join the Socceroos ahead of their World Cup qualification match against Honduras. Cahill injured his ankle while playing for Melbourne city in the A-league. Scans cleared him of a fracture so the football federation made the decision to send him to Central America.
