A man has appeared in a Melbourne court charged with supporting an Islamic State group terrorist. The 43-year-old disability pensioner was arrested during a raid on his Hampton Park home early this morning. It's alleged he sent five thousand dollars to a US citizen fighting with IS in Syria between April 2013 and November 2014.

The deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce will learn his political fate on Friday, when the high court delivers its judgment on dual citizenship cases. Mr Joyce is one of seven federal politicians waiting for the decision on whether their elections at last year's national poll was valid. The high court will deliver its judgment on Friday afternoon in Canberra.

Nearly 12 million people are now estimated to have filled out the same-sex marriage survey and returned their forms. The latest Australian Bureau of Statistics figures show 74-and-a-half per cent of survey forms have now been sent back. That's 300-thousand more on last week with formal scanning now underway. The ABS sent out about 16-million forms in total.
