The G-20 summit has wrapped up in Germany and prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has flown to Paris for talks with his French counterpart. He and Emmanuel Macron celebrated the multi-billion dollar deal to build Australian submarines. Speaking at a joint news conference with the French president, Mr Turnbull says he also hopes to get a free-trade deal with Europe by 2019.

It appears the battle for Mosul is all but over. Iraqi government forces are expecting to clear the last pockets of Islamic State resistance today. The offensive to recapture Mosul in northern Iraq was launched last October, backed by US led coalition warplanes.

Princes William and Harry have given a rare glimpse into their relationship with their mother in a documentary to mark the 20th anniversary of princess Diana's death. The film shows the brothers looking through a private family album that was put together by their mum. Prince William was 15 and his brother was 12, when their mother died in a car accident in 1997.

And a big scare in the Queensland Camp ahead of next weeks State of Origin decider with Billy Slater rolling his ankle and not finishing training. The fullback fell to the ground late in the session. His team-mates don't think it will keep him out of the crucial game in Brisbane.
